Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Dolphins, and a B- to prove it.

The Drew Allar selection is the head-turner. The Dolphins reached 45 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Getting Lee III where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class. Spending an early pick on cornerback with edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
By-the-book stuff, Carnell Tate at slot 11 squarely in line with his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Olaivavega Ioane
They did well to land Olaivavega Ioane in pick 43, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick75 Rnd3 Will Lee III
Will Lee III at No. 75 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jack Endries
Jack Endries in pick No. 87 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick90 Rnd3 Drew Allar
A big swing on Drew Allar at the Round 3 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick111 Rnd4 D'Angelo Ponds
They bypassed pressing needs at edge rusher, interior defensive lineman and other spots to take D'Angelo Ponds, a cornerback that was not the priority.
Pick149 Rnd5 Aaron Anderson
Aaron Anderson at the 149th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick227 Rnd7 PJ Williams
A straight-up fair deal on PJ Williams at No. 227, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
