The Patriots let Tuten fall into their laps, and walked away with a B. The rest of the league will want that one back. Bhayshul Tuten tumbling to the Patriots in Round 7, Pick 4 is a gift they did not have to think twice about. The bottom line is a respectable B.
They will need Vann to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Good work on the whole, with wide receiver the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Travis Hunter
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside at fair value. More want than need.
Pick30
Rnd1
Tyler Warren
In the 30th overall pick they get a seam-stretching tight end at a price that makes it sweeter.
Pick69
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
They paid up for Ozzy Trapilo at Round 3, Pick 5 when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick106
Rnd4
Dylan Fairchild
No drama and no debate, Dylan Fairchild went about where he belonged in pick 106. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick144
Rnd5
Joshua Farmer
Steal is underselling it; Joshua Farmer at slot 144 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick171
Rnd5
Jack Kiser
They paid a round early for Jack Kiser in the 171st pick, more than the board wanted. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick220
Rnd7
Bhayshul Tuten
The board fumbled Bhayshul Tuten all the way to pick No. 220, and they scooped it up. It fills a real need, too.
Pick238
Rnd7
Davin Vann
This one needs a full-page explanation: Davin Vann in No. 238, miles early. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
