Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
Williams is the Bears' new face under center. Grade: D-.

Somebody took the Bears to the cleaners. The deals they made bled real value, and the whole class wears it.

They have staked the next five years on Caleb Williams, which is the only story that really matters here. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it.

They are betting Fiske proves the room right and everyone else wrong. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Dixon.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and running back is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick1 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback at fair value.
Pick15 Rnd1 Jared Verse
In pick 15 they get a double-digit-sack hope. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick34 Rnd2 Brian Thomas Jr.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Brian Thomas Jr. in the 34th pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick46 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
A straight-up fair deal on Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 2, Pick 14, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick75 Rnd3 Braden Fiske
Braden Fiske at slot 75 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Beau Brade
Beau Brade in pick No. 110 is fair value, right on his grade. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick122 Rnd4 Sataoa Laumea
By-the-book stuff, Sataoa Laumea at No. 122 squarely in line with his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick139 Rnd5 Johnny Dixon
Johnny Dixon slipping to the 139th overall pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick146 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
No drama and no debate, Dallin Holker went about where he belonged in slot 146. A minor need, but a need all the same.
