Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Bills steal Barrett and grade out a B.

Somebody in slot 222 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Bills sat still while Michael Barrett, the No. 189 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Jefferson has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

The trade work was a quiet net positive. Linebacker was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick35 Rnd2 Keon Coleman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keon Coleman in Round 2, Pick 3. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick60 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in No. 60 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick71 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe in pick No. 71 is fair value, right on his grade. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Jaden Hicks
They went early on Jaden Hicks in slot 99, and the value did not follow. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick129 Rnd4 Cole Bishop
Cole Bishop in the Round 4 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick159 Rnd5 Cam Hart
They barely believed it either: Cam Hart still on the board at the 159th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jordan Jefferson
Jordan Jefferson at the 162nd pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick197 Rnd6 De'Corian Clark
De'Corian Clark in pick 197 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick202 Rnd6 Emani Bailey
Emani Bailey at No. 202 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick206 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
Gabe Hall in the 206th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick222 Rnd7 Michael Barrett
A linebacker of that caliber at the 222nd pick is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246 Rnd7 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at pick 246 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
