Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall C+
ValueC NeedB- TradesB- FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly executed. Steelers: C+.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Steelers shredded theirs for Beaux Limmer. He came off 44 spots early, and the room will hear about it. The final tally is a middling C+.

With interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Troy Fautanu
In No. 20 they get protection for the quarterback. More want than need.
Pick51 Rnd2 Devontez Walker
A wild overpay on Devontez Walker in Round 2, Pick 19, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick84 Rnd3 Beaux Limmer
Hard to square with the roster. With positions of obvious need still on the board, Beaux Limmer adds an offensive lineman and leaves interior defensive lineman, safety and other spots untouched.
Pick119 Rnd4 Johnny Wilson
They paid sticker price for Johnny Wilson in slot 119, and that is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick120 Rnd4 Cedric Gray
Good price on Cedric Gray in the 120th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick195 Rnd6 Johnny Dixon
Fair-plus on Johnny Dixon, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick240 Rnd7 Sam Hartman
A real head-scratcher, Sam Hartman in the 240th pick is miles ahead of his ranking. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
