FutureA
The Giants left with their quarterback, and a B- to match. The board owed the Giants one, and it paid up: Elijah Arroyo, the No. 72 name on the board, sitting there at pick 154 like a gift left on the doorstep.
The whole projection now runs through Shedeur Sanders; hit there and everything else looks smarter. The Simpkins III pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.
The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
Good work on the whole, with interior defensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick8
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In pick No. 8 they get the face of the franchise at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick34
Rnd2
Abdul Carter
They will replay Abdul Carter at the 34th pick for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick65
Rnd3
Maxwell Hairston
No drama and no debate, Maxwell Hairston went about where he belonged in Round 3, Pick 1. The roster fit checks out.
Pick99
Rnd3
Charles Grant
Charles Grant at No. 99 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick105
Rnd4
Barrett Carter
Circle this one: Barrett Carter at the 105th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick146
Rnd5
Jah Joyner
The board had cheaper options than Jah Joyner at the 146th pick, and it noticed. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick154
Rnd5
Elijah Arroyo
Taking Elijah Arroyo in the Round 5 slot is close to grand larceny; a tight end that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick219
Rnd7
Torricelli Simpkins III
They left a pile of value on the table to take Torricelli Simpkins III this early at pick 219. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick246
Rnd7
Donovan Edwards
Donovan Edwards in pick No. 246 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
