Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns let Neal fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

Somebody in slot 190 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Devin Neal, the No. 81 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.

The cost of the Travis reach is exactly the players who went right after him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Travis Hunter
A straight-up fair deal on Travis Hunter at slot 2, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Malaki Starks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Malaki Starks at the 33rd pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick67 Rnd3 Jihaad Campbell
A linebacker of that caliber at pick No. 67 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick93 Rnd3 Jack Bech
They took Jack Bech at par in the 93rd overall pick, which is nothing to complain about. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick102 Rnd4 TreVeyon Henderson
They will replay TreVeyon Henderson at pick 102 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick167 Rnd5 Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor at No. 167 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick177 Rnd6 Addison West
Addison West in the Round 6 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick190 Rnd6 Devin Neal
They robbed the room for Devin Neal here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick198 Rnd6 Ja'Corey Brooks
A clean, defensible pick in No. 198 with a little surplus value in Ja'Corey Brooks. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick214 Rnd6 Jalen Travis
They reached into another round for Jalen Travis, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick215 Rnd6 Kobe King
You do not let a linebacker like Kobe King reach pick 215 and blink. They did not. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick256 Rnd7 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
Taking Jamon Dumas-Johnson in slot 256 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
