Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB+ FutureB
Singleton should have been long gone. The Jets pounced, and earned a B.

Call it larceny. Nicholas Singleton sat on the board until the 184th overall pick, and the Jets did not need to be asked twice. Good, not great, and the B says as much.

With quarterback, cornerback and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on tight end is the choice that costs them. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. Safety was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In slot 8 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick45 Rnd2 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 45th overall pick is money in the bank, a tight end taken below his worth. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick95 Rnd3 Colston Loveland
Of all the spots to shop, they chose tight end. Colston Loveland in pick No. 95 leaves quarterback, cornerback and other spots for later.
Pick110 Rnd4 Elic Ayomanor
Elic Ayomanor is a better player than the Round 4 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick145 Rnd5 Danny Stutsman
Danny Stutsman at pick 145 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick161 Rnd5 Jaeden Roberts
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jaeden Roberts. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick184 Rnd6 Nicholas Singleton
They barely believed it either: Nicholas Singleton still on the board at the 184th pick. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick207 Rnd6 Xavier Nwankpa
Nice patience on Xavier Nwankpa, who had no business lasting to No. 207. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
