Draft Grade — Bengals
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Bengals robbed the room for Burton. Final grade: B-.

When a board-topper like Jermaine Burton slides to pick No. 80, you do not overthink it, and the Bengals did not. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Every board in the league had Sweat lower, and that gap is the story.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick18 Rnd1 Taliese Fuaga
In the 18th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line. A real need, handled.
Pick49 Rnd2 T'Vondre Sweat
They liked T'Vondre Sweat enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 49. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick80 Rnd3 Jermaine Burton
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Jermaine Burton in slot 80, plain and simple. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick116 Rnd4 Audric Estime
Somehow Audric Estime was still sitting there in the Round 4 slot, and they pounced on premier running back value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick148 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
They paid sticker price for Theo Johnson in Round 5, Pick 12, and that is fine. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick175 Rnd5 Renardo Green
Renardo Green in pick 175 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick196 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
A clean, defensible pick in the 196th pick with a little surplus value in Michael Barrett. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick235 Rnd7 Isaiah Neyor
Isaiah Neyor at No. 235 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick252 Rnd7 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan in slot 252 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
