Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesB+ FutureB-
Best value of the weekend goes to the Packers for Smith: B.

When a board-topper like Ainias Smith slides to pick No. 217, you do not overthink it, and the Packers did not.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They are betting Brooks proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Olumuyiwa Fashanu
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick39 Rnd2 Calen Bullock
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Calen Bullock. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick43 Rnd2 Jonathon Brooks
They paid up for Jonathon Brooks at slot 43 when waiting would have done the job. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson at Round 3, Pick 11 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick111 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Somehow Zak Zinter was still sitting there in pick No. 111, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick135 Rnd4 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at No. 135 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick189 Rnd6 Connor Colby
A top-tier offensive lineman at a bargain, Connor Colby in pick 189, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick217 Rnd6 Ainias Smith
Ainias Smith at the 217th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick219 Rnd6 Steve Linton
A tidy bit of business in Round 6, Pick 44, where Steve Linton graded well above the range. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick232 Rnd7 Jacob Cowing
Jacob Cowing in slot 232 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The roster fit checks out.
