Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Buccaneers spent No. 237 on Thor Griffith, a name the board had a full 73 spots lower. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The Kiser value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. It is not that Carter is a bad player; it is that the Buccaneers had louder needs to answer first. For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
