Hard to follow the map here. The 49ers bypassed quarterback and linebacker to take Mello Dotson at Round 4, Pick 36, a spot they had covered.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Slater. They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

They came away with juice, if not much beef up front.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
