Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall D
ValueC+ NeedB TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Dolphins to a D.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Dolphins shredded theirs for Elijhah Badger. He came off 38 spots early, and the room will hear about it. A weekend that fought the value and lost, hence the D.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it. With edge rusher and linebacker unsolved, spending premium capital on safety is the choice that costs them.

That is a quarterback worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.

It is a steep hill from here, and the grade knows it.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Walter Nolen
In No. 16 they get a wrecking ball inside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at pick 48 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick78 Rnd3 Andrew Mukuba
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Andrew Mukuba. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went safety with Kevin Winston Jr. while clear needs at edge rusher and linebacker sat open.
Pick115 Rnd4 Zy Alexander
They let Zy Alexander come to them and pounced at the Round 4 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick116 Rnd4 Will Howard
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Will Howard in the 116th overall pick. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick135 Rnd4 Luke Kandra
They reached into another round for Luke Kandra, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It fills a real need, too.
Pick150 Rnd5 Kyle Williams
A big swing on Kyle Williams at Round 5, Pick 12, well ahead of any board in the building. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick155 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
Raheim Sanders in pick No. 155 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jackson Hawes
Jackson Hawes at slot 224 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick231 Rnd7 Hayden Conner
This one needs a full-page explanation: Hayden Conner in the Round 7 slot, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick253 Rnd7 Elijhah Badger
They talked themselves into Elijhah Badger at pick 253, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
