Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C
ValueD NeedB+ TradesB- FutureD
The jury is out on the Browns. For now, C.

Nobody else had Steven Parker anywhere near pick 67. The Browns did, by 304 spots, and that gap is the whole story. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C.

The Mbow pick is the one they will point to when this weekend is judged. Leaving cornerback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 James Pearce Jr.
In the 2nd overall pick they get a quarterback's worst nightmare, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Jalen Milroe
Value said wait; Jalen Milroe in pick No. 33 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick37 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the Round 2 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67 Rnd3 Steven Parker
Steven Parker at No. 67 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
You do not let an offensive lineman like Donovan Jackson reach slot 94 and blink. They did not. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick179 Rnd6 Tez Johnson
Tez Johnson at pick 179 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick192 Rnd6 KJ Jefferson
KJ Jefferson in slot 192 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick200 Rnd6 Gino Garcia
A wild overpay on Gino Garcia in pick No. 200, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick216 Rnd6 Marcus Mbow
A offensive lineman of that caliber at No. 216 is the definition of value, full stop. A need, and now a little less of one.
