Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall
B-
ValueC+
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
The 49ers finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a B-. After circling the position for what felt like forever, the 49ers committed. Shedeur Sanders is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.
The Belton pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. That Longerbeam pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They will regret leaving tight end for another day if the season turns on it.
Offensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Shedeur Sanders
In the Round 1 slot they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Pick43
Rnd2
TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson in No. 43 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75
Rnd3
Anthony Belton
Anthony Belton in Round 3, Pick 11 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick100
Rnd3
Mello Dotson
Mello Dotson at pick No. 100 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick113
Rnd4
Tai Felton
Tai Felton is a better player than slot 113 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138
Rnd4
Ty Hamilton
A reasonable price with a little left over, Ty Hamilton in the 138th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick147
Rnd5
Kaimon Rucker
A reach for Kaimon Rucker in pick 147; a little patience would have been rewarded. It fills a real need, too.
Pick160
Rnd5
Malachi Moore
Malachi Moore at the 160th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick227
Rnd7
Addison West
Addison West at the 227th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick249
Rnd7
Jahvaree Ritzie
They talked themselves into Jahvaree Ritzie at Round 7, Pick 33, and the board did not agree. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick252
Rnd7
Robert Longerbeam
Robert Longerbeam in pick 252 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
