Draft Grade — Packers

Grand theft in the Round 7 slot: the Packers steal Kiser and grade out a B.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jack Kiser, the No. 193 name on the board, stolen at slot 250. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They will need McCord to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made.

The offense got the lion's share of the attention.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Josh Conerly Jr.
In pick 30 they get protection for the quarterback, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick54 Rnd2 Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden at pick No. 54 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick62 Rnd2 Trey Amos
Value with a capital V on Trey Amos in Round 2, Pick 30, a genuine coup. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Kyle McCord
They talked themselves into Kyle McCord at slot 87, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick122 Rnd4 Darius Alexander
Darius Alexander at No. 122 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The roster fit checks out.
Pick158 Rnd5 Cody Simon
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Cody Simon in the Round 5 slot, plain and simple. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick196 Rnd6 Jared Wilson
A real head-scratcher, Jared Wilson in the 196th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick237 Rnd7 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim at the 237th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick250 Rnd7 Jack Kiser
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 34 is the definition of value, full stop. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
