Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB- TradesA FutureB
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Packers and Higgins: B.

You build a draft on nights like this. Jay Higgins had no business being available in Round 7, Pick 23, and the Packers did the only sane thing and turned in the card. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

The Caldwell reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.

Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

Pick Analysis
Pick54 Rnd2 Matthew Golden
Matthew Golden slipping to pick No. 54 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Donovan Jackson
They left a pile of value on the table to take Donovan Jackson this early at Round 2, Pick 26. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick62 Rnd2 Jalon Walker
Taking Jalon Walker in the 62nd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick68 Rnd3 Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Riley Leonard
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Riley Leonard. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick126 Rnd4 Xavier Watts
Steal is underselling it; Xavier Watts at slot 126 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick127 Rnd4 Rylie Mills
They liked Rylie Mills enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 127. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick160 Rnd5 Chris Paul Jr.
You do not let a linebacker like Chris Paul Jr. reach pick 160 and blink. They did not. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick200 Rnd6 Jonah Monheim
Jonah Monheim in the Round 6 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick203 Rnd6 Theo Wease Jr.
Theo Wease Jr. in the 203rd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick208 Rnd6 Nohl Williams
Nohl Williams at Round 6, Pick 33 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick224 Rnd7 Jamaree Caldwell
A wild overpay on Jamaree Caldwell in pick No. 224, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick239 Rnd7 Jay Higgins
Jay Higgins at slot 239 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Pick251 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
Garrett Dellinger in pick 251 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
