Draft Grade — Packers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB TradesA FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B to prove it.

The Packers went off the board in a big way for Drew Kendall, 44 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

However the rest shakes out, McMillan at that price is a win they earned. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.

The dealing nudged the ledger their way without much fuss.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Tetairoa McMillan
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver, outstanding value to boot. A real need, handled.
Pick54 Rnd2 JT Tuimoloau
JT Tuimoloau at No. 54 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick62 Rnd2 Trey Amos
The board had Trey Amos higher than the 62nd pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick87 Rnd3 Darius Alexander
They paid sticker price for Darius Alexander in pick No. 87, and that is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Pick124 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Cody Simon in the 124th overall pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick159 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick 159 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick198 Rnd6 Carson Vinson
Carson Vinson at the 198th overall pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick237 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
They went early on Teddye Buchanan in Round 7, Pick 21, and the value did not follow. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick250 Rnd7 Drew Kendall
This one needs a full-page explanation: Drew Kendall in pick No. 250, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
