No fireworks, just a tidy B- for the Dolphins.

The curious call sets the tone. With quarterback, interior defensive lineman and other spots still glaring, the Dolphins used slot 112 on Chris Johnson, a cornerback they were not exactly short of. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up. The Banks value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The cost of the Rucci reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.

In the 12th overall pick they get a rangy last line of defense, and a steal at that. Need was not the driver here.
Pick44 Rnd2 Caleb Banks
The board had Caleb Banks higher than the 44th pick, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick76 Rnd3 A.J. Harris
Good price on A.J. Harris in No. 76, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick82 Rnd3 Ian Strong
A clean, defensible pick in slot 82 with a little surplus value in Ian Strong. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

They did well to land Jaeden Roberts in pick 87, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
