The Cowboys jumped the board for Mathews Jr. and paid for it: F.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Cowboys would have aced it. Jermaine Mathews Jr. at pick 74 is 111 spots clear of where he belonged. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.

Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. The Clark pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with tight end and interior defensive lineman still on the board.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped tight end, which is a strange place to end up. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Iheanachor.

There is no soft landing here: they fought the board and left tight end open, and the grade is the bill.
