Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Dolphins.

Nobody else had Derrick Moore anywhere near No. 87. The Dolphins did, by 55 spots, and that gap is the whole story. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.

Moss at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Spending an early pick on safety with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard in No. 44 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley in the 75th pick is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick86 Rnd3 Earl Little Jr.
Of all the spots to shop, they chose safety. Earl Little Jr. in pick 86 leaves interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots for later.
Pick87 Rnd3 Derrick Moore
Value said wait; Derrick Moore in pick No. 87 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick110 Rnd4 Jadarian Price
Jadarian Price in the 110th overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick137 Rnd4 Iapani Laloulu
They jumped the gun on Iapani Laloulu, taking him earlier than his grade liked. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick151 Rnd5 Trey Moore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Trey Moore this early at slot 151. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick226 Rnd7 Miller Moss
Miller Moss at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
