Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
The Dolphins did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

Nobody had Derrick Moore this high, and it is not close. The Dolphins reached 56 spots to get him at slot 86. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

On value alone, Moss makes the weekend a net positive. It is not that McNeil-Warren is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first.

That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In the 10th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line, reach and all. A real need, handled.
Pick44 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
A premium they did not need to pay, Germie Bernard a notch or two before his time. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
A tidy little value on Zakee Wheatley in slot 75, a step better than break-even. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick86 Rnd3 Derrick Moore
They left a pile of value on the table to take Derrick Moore this early at pick 86. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Akheem Mesidor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Akheem Mesidor. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick110 Rnd4 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 110th pick on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren with interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots unsolved.
Pick137 Rnd4 Iapani Laloulu
Iapani Laloulu at pick No. 137 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick151 Rnd5 Darius Taylor
They paid a round early for Darius Taylor in slot 151, more than the board wanted. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick226 Rnd7 Miller Moss
Miller Moss at pick 226 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
