Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Dolphins a B-.

There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Trey Moore, 36 picks ahead of schedule. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. On value alone, Downs makes the weekend a net positive. On the needs board they went 6 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.

The back end got a real overhaul.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Caleb Downs
Value with a capital V on Caleb Downs in the Round 1 slot, a genuine coup. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick43 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
A reach for Germie Bernard in Round 2, Pick 11; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick75 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
No edge and no loss on Malik Muhammad in pick No. 75; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick87 Rnd3 Jack Endries
Jack Endries at the 87th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90 Rnd3 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen in No. 90 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick111 Rnd4 Blake Miller
They paid a round early for Blake Miller in slot 111, more than the board wanted. The roster fit checks out.
Pick138 Rnd4 DJ Campbell
DJ Campbell in the 138th pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It fills a real need, too.
Pick150 Rnd5 Trey Moore
This one needs a full-page explanation: Trey Moore in the 150th overall pick, miles early. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick227 Rnd7 Haynes King
They talked themselves into Haynes King at No. 227, and the board did not agree. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
