Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB FutureC-
The Dolphins kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

The curious call sets the tone. With interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots still glaring, the Dolphins used Round 4, Pick 11 on Jakobe Thomas, a safety they were not exactly short of. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

The interior defensive lineman spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The cost of the Kamara reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

The Aguilar steal is the beam this whole class leans on.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In pick No. 11 they get a blindside protector. A real need, handled.
Pick43 Rnd2 Zion Young
A reach on Zion Young in Round 2, Pick 11; the board had better options right there. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
They did well to land Keionte Scott in pick 75, just ahead of his grade. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick87 Rnd3 Mikail Kamara
They talked themselves into Mikail Kamara at pick No. 87, and the board did not agree. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick90 Rnd3 Bishop Fitzgerald
Bishop Fitzgerald at the 90th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick98 Rnd3 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen in the 98th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick111 Rnd4 Jakobe Thomas
A surprising call. With interior defensive lineman, tight end and other spots still to address, they spent the Round 4 slot on Jakobe Thomas, a safety they were not short of.
Pick138 Rnd4 Ted Hurst
The board had cheaper options than Ted Hurst at slot 138, and it noticed. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick149 Rnd5 Kobe Baynes
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kobe Baynes well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick227 Rnd7 Joey Aguilar
They let Joey Aguilar come to them and pounced at Round 7, Pick 11. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
