Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
The Dolphins checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

They will call it conviction in the building and a reach everywhere else: Gabe Jacas, 49 picks early at the 43rd pick. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

A whole weekend of picks and wide receiver is somehow still a want. The Wheatley pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

The Fitzgerald pick is fine in a vacuum, less so with wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots still on the board.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kadyn Proctor
In Round 1, Pick 11 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Gabe Jacas
Gabe Jacas in pick 43 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick75 Rnd3 Keionte Scott
Keionte Scott at the 75th overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick87 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the safety. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick90 Rnd3 Kaytron Allen
Kaytron Allen in the 90th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick111 Rnd4 Bishop Fitzgerald
A surprising call. With wide receiver, interior defensive lineman and other spots still to address, they spent slot 111 on Bishop Fitzgerald, a safety they were not short of.
Pick138 Rnd4 DJ Campbell
A big swing on DJ Campbell at the Round 4 slot, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick149 Rnd5 Tanner Koziol
Nothing to complain about; Tanner Koziol went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick227 Rnd7 Joey Aguilar
Joey Aguilar at pick 227 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the quarterback. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
