Somebody in the Round 7 slot was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Dolphins sat still while Sawyer Robertson, the No. 187 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium.

It is not that Wheatley is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first. A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want. The cost of the Ioane reach is exactly the players who went right after him.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
