Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesB- FutureC+
The Dolphins let Robertson fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

You could see the war room lean forward. Sawyer Robertson at the Round 7 slot is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did.

Reaching for Miller left real value on the table behind him. The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. It is not that Little Jr. is a bad player; it is that the Dolphins had louder needs to answer first.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick10 Rnd1 Arvell Reese
In Round 1, Pick 10 they get a downhill thumper at linebacker at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick44 Rnd2 Germie Bernard
Germie Bernard at the Round 2 slot is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75 Rnd3 Zakee Wheatley
Zakee Wheatley at pick 75 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick79 Rnd3 Brian Parker II
No edge and no loss on Brian Parker II in the 79th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick93 Rnd3 Earl Little Jr.
A curious use of pick No. 93. Edge rusher and tight end needed the pick; a safety in Earl Little Jr. did not.
Pick110 Rnd4 Blake Miller
A real head-scratcher, Blake Miller in slot 110 is miles ahead of his ranking. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick137 Rnd4 Demond Claiborne
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Demond Claiborne. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick152 Rnd5 Aaron Graves
Aaron Graves at No. 152 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick225 Rnd7 Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at the 225th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
