Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB+ TradesD FutureA
The Steelers answered their biggest question with Allar. Grade: B.

The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Steelers spent their marquee pick on Drew Allar, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. Clark falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want. Reaching for Williams left real value on the table behind him.

A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.

Pick Analysis
Pick30 Rnd1 Drew Allar
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get the face of the franchise at a price that makes it sweeter. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick46 Rnd2 Denzel Boston
They barely believed it either: Denzel Boston still on the board at the 46th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick78 Rnd3 Mansoor Delane
Mansoor Delane at pick No. 78 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick98 Rnd3 Bud Clark
Circle this one: Bud Clark at No. 98 is a fall that decides a draft. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick115 Rnd4 Jeremiah Wilson
A tidy bit of business in the 115th pick, where Jeremiah Wilson graded well above the range. The roster fit checks out.
Pick136 Rnd4 Rod Moore
Nice patience on Rod Moore, who had no business lasting to pick 136. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick153 Rnd5 Dane Key
Dane Key in the Round 5 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick176 Rnd5 Trey Zuhn III
They paid sticker price for Trey Zuhn III in slot 176, and that is fine. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick192 Rnd6 Ricardo Hallman
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Ricardo Hallman at the Round 6 slot is the proof. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick211 Rnd6 James Williams
James Williams in Round 6, Pick 35 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick227 Rnd7 Avery Johnson
Avery Johnson in No. 227 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
