Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureB-
The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Ramsey: D.

You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The 49ers did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. Too much went sideways, and the D is the honest tally.

Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Tucker to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Getting Ramsey where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even.

Pick Analysis
Pick27 Rnd1 Avieon Terrell
In pick 27 they get an island corner, outstanding value to boot. More want than need.
Pick58 Rnd2 Kamari Ramsey
Kamari Ramsey in the 58th pick is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick80 Rnd3 Eli Stowers
Value with a capital V on Eli Stowers in Round 3, Pick 16, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick92 Rnd3 Jake Golday
The board had Jake Golday higher than slot 92, and the edge rusher fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick116 Rnd4 Keylan Rutledge
By-the-book stuff, Keylan Rutledge at No. 116 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick127 Rnd4 Mike Washington Jr.
A straight-up fair deal on Mike Washington Jr. at the Round 4 slot, value and slot in agreement. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick133 Rnd4 CJ Daniels
CJ Daniels at pick 133 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd4 Kage Casey
No edge and no loss on Kage Casey in the 138th overall pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick149 Rnd5 Nadame Tucker
Nadame Tucker at Round 5, Pick 11 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick171 Rnd5 Taylen Green
Good price on Taylen Green in the 171st pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
