FutureB-
More right than wrong for the Packers, and a B- to prove it. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Kaelon Black at No. 201 is 25 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick59
Rnd2
Christen Miller
Christen Miller in slot 59 is fair value, right on his grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick91
Rnd3
Ted Hurst
Ted Hurst at Round 3, Pick 27 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick106
Rnd4
Deion Burks
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Deion Burks at pick 106. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120
Rnd4
Kaleb Proctor
Kaleb Proctor at the 120th overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick123
Rnd4
Trey Zuhn III
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Trey Zuhn III. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick126
Rnd4
Hezekiah Masses
Hezekiah Masses in the 126th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick153
Rnd5
Charles Demmings
Charles Demmings at the 153rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick160
Rnd5
Kage Casey
By-the-book stuff, Kage Casey at pick No. 160 squarely in line with his ranking. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick167
Rnd5
Zxavian Harris
Zxavian Harris is a better player than slot 167 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick182
Rnd6
Seth McGowan
They took Seth McGowan at par in Round 6, Pick 1, which is nothing to complain about. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick201
Rnd6
Kaelon Black
Kaelon Black in pick 201 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick236
Rnd7
Vinny Anthony II
Value said wait; Vinny Anthony II in the 236th pick says they were not listening. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick255
Rnd7
Jalon Daniels
A premium they did not need to pay, Jalon Daniels a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
