The Dolphins drew a line under the quarterback search with Mendoza: D-.

The Dolphins bet big and early on Roman Hemby, 130 picks ahead of the board. Bold does not always mean right. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

The trades bled value they could not afford to lose. The whole projection now runs through Fernando Mendoza; hit there and everything else looks smarter. Spending an early pick on cornerback with interior defensive lineman open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up. Landing Daniels that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, interior defensive lineman very much included.

In the 2nd pick they get their guy under center for the next decade, though they paid up to get him. The biggest hole, addressed.

Gennings Dunker in pick No. 12 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.

They let Caleb Banks come to them and pounced at slot 36. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.

Kenyon Sadiq slid further than he should have, and the Round 2 slot is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
