Draft Grade — Browns
Overall C+
ValueF NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA
The Browns finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a C+.

When the story of this class is written, it opens with Bradyn Joiner at the 147th overall pick, a reach of 357 spots that the board flatly disagrees with.

Ioane at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Nico Iamaleava is the bet, and the class will be judged on how it pays off. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.

They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

Not a disaster, not a triumph, just a middling class.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Nico Iamaleava
In pick No. 12 they get a passer to set the clock by, though the board says they badly overpaid. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick23 Rnd1 Malik Muhammad
In pick 23 they get a sticky cover corner, a steep price for the projection. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Johntay Cook
They talked themselves into Johntay Cook at the 39th overall pick, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70 Rnd3 Quinten Joyner
Quinten Joyner at No. 70 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick107 Rnd4 Olaivavega Ioane
You do not let an offensive lineman like Olaivavega Ioane reach the Round 4 slot and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick122 Rnd4 Jude Bowry
A premium they did not need to pay, Jude Bowry a notch or two before his time. The roster fit checks out.
Pick146 Rnd5 Malachi Nelson
A real head-scratcher, Malachi Nelson in pick No. 146 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick147 Rnd5 Bradyn Joiner
A wild overpay on Bradyn Joiner in slot 147, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick148 Rnd5 Bryce Lance
Circle this one: Bryce Lance at the 148th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick194 Rnd6 Kevin Jennings
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Kevin Jennings well ahead of where he belonged. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick240 Rnd7 Aidan Chiles
They paid a round early for Aidan Chiles in the Round 7 slot, more than the board wanted. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
