Jaybeast17 DRAFTING FOR THERaiders
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall

The Raiders landed square in the muddy middle: C. The Shawn Murphy selection is the head-turner. The Raiders reached 369 spots for him, and it will define how this weekend is remembered. It lands right in the middle: a C, no more, no less.
Fields at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
The verdict is a shrug for now, with the swing picks left to write the real ending.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Monroe Freeling
In Round 1, Pick 1 they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36
Rnd2
Jerry Wilson
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jerry Wilson well ahead of where he belonged. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick67
Rnd3
Shawn Murphy
A real head-scratcher, Shawn Murphy in No. 67 is miles ahead of his ranking. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick102
Rnd4
Sam Hecht
Sam Hecht at slot 102 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick117
Rnd4
Malachi Fields
Taking Malachi Fields in the 117th overall pick is close to grand larceny; a wide receiver that good had no business lasting this long. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick134
Rnd4
Preston Stone
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Preston Stone. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick175
Rnd5
Kage Casey
Somehow Kage Casey was still sitting there in the 175th pick, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jalen Stroman
They paid up for Jalen Stroman at No. 182 when waiting would have done the job. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick185
Rnd6
Febechi Nwaiwu
Febechi Nwaiwu at the Round 6 slot is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick208
Rnd6
Owen Heinecke
A wild overpay on Owen Heinecke in pick 208, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
Pick219
Rnd7
John Michael Gyllenborg
This one needs a full-page explanation: John Michael Gyllenborg in the 219th overall pick, miles early. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
