Draft Grade — Bears
Overall D-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesF FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Bears to a D-.

The Derrick Moore pick is the one that will follow the Bears into the fall. They took him 53 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Too much went sideways, and the D- is the honest tally.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Kayden McDonald
By-the-book stuff, Kayden McDonald at pick No. 25 squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick45 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Derrick Moore. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick67 Rnd3 Emmanuel McNeil-Warren
A market-rate safety, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Emmanuel McNeil-Warren. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick89 Rnd3 Chandler Rivers
A tidy little value on Chandler Rivers in pick 89, a step better than break-even. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick91 Rnd3 Jacob Rodriguez
They paid sticker price for Jacob Rodriguez in the 91st pick, and that is fine. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick102 Rnd4 Kevin Coleman Jr.
They talked themselves into Kevin Coleman Jr. at the 102nd overall pick, and the board did not agree. It fills a real need, too.
Pick117 Rnd4 Max Iheanachor
Max Iheanachor at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick180 Rnd6 Bud Clark
Bud Clark at Round 6, Pick 1 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick183 Rnd6 Miles Kitselman
Miles Kitselman in slot 183 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick219 Rnd7 Fernando Carmona
They took Fernando Carmona at par in pick 219, which is nothing to complain about. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
