FutureB
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Colts a B-. You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Colts did exactly that with DeSean Bishop in the 152nd overall pick.
That Scott pick is the receipt they will wave around later. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain.
The trade work was a quiet net positive. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick47
Rnd2
Nyck Harbor
A real head-scratcher, Nyck Harbor in pick 47 is miles ahead of his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick78
Rnd3
Terrance Carter Jr.
Terrance Carter Jr. at Round 3, Pick 14 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick152
Rnd5
DeSean Bishop
They reached into another round for DeSean Bishop, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick154
Rnd5
Jayce Brown
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jayce Brown in the 154th pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick197
Rnd6
Quay'sheed Scott
You do not let a cornerback like Quay'sheed Scott reach pick No. 197 and blink. They did not. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick213
Rnd6
Anthony Colandrea
No drama and no debate, Anthony Colandrea went about where he belonged in No. 213. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick216
Rnd6
Jake Guarnera
Jake Guarnera at No. 216 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick230
Rnd7
Jordan Castell
A wild overpay on Jordan Castell in slot 230, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick253
Rnd7
Tunmise Adeleye
A reach for Tunmise Adeleye in pick No. 253; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
