Draft Grade — Rams
Overall C+
ValueD- NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Mensah, and a C+, for the Rams.

Start where it matters. The Rams took Darian Mensah to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one.

Every board in the league had Mensah lower, and that gap is the story. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

If Darian Mensah and a couple of the gambles land, hindsight will be kinder than this grade.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Wyatt Young
In pick 13 they get a matchup problem out wide, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick29 Rnd1 Darian Mensah
In pick No. 29 they get their quarterback of the future, though the board says they badly overpaid.
Pick61 Rnd2 Jelani McDonald
They paid sticker price for Jelani McDonald in the 61st overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick93 Rnd3 Brandon Baker
A clean, defensible pick in No. 93 with a little surplus value in Brandon Baker. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick167 Rnd5 King Mack
King Mack in Round 5, Pick 29 lands just on the right side of the ledger. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick205 Rnd6 Sheridan Wilson
Sheridan Wilson in slot 205 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick208 Rnd6 Elinneus Davis
Elinneus Davis at the Round 6 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick232 Rnd7 Charles Jagusah
A reach for Charles Jagusah in the 232nd pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick250 Rnd7 Trey Leckner
Trey Leckner at pick No. 250 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick256 Rnd7 Rueben Owens II
Rueben Owens II in the Round 7 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
