Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall B-

The Commanders cashed the board's mistake on Green: B-.

The Commanders spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Cayden Green, the No. 10 name on the board, in pick 106. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

Every board in the league had Spears lower, and that gap is the story. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Will Echoles
In the 5th overall pick they get a load in the middle, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
Pick37 Rnd2 Dashawn Spears
Value said wait; Dashawn Spears in slot 37 says they were not listening. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick69 Rnd3 Chris Cole
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Chris Cole in the Round 3 slot, plain and simple. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick106 Rnd4 Cayden Green
Taking Cayden Green in pick No. 106 is close to grand larceny; an offensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick142 Rnd5 Raleek Brown
Raleek Brown in pick 142 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick183 Rnd6 Devin McCuin
Circle this one: Devin McCuin at No. 183 is a fall that decides a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
