Draft Grade — Dolphins

Quarterback settled, Mensah in the fold, and a B for the Dolphins.

They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Darian Mensah is the Dolphins' quarterback, full stop. More right than wrong, and a B to match.

Lee has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. A whole weekend of picks and interior defensive lineman is somehow still a want.

McClain falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Darian Mensah
In No. 15 they get a long-term answer under center, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick18 Rnd1 Trey'Dez Green
In pick 18 they get a red-zone target to build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jadan Baugh
No drama and no debate, Jadan Baugh went about where he belonged in the 36th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67 Rnd3 Princewill Umanmielen
They talked themselves into Princewill Umanmielen at pick No. 67, and the board did not agree. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jaylen McClain
Jaylen McClain slid further than he should have, and the Round 4 slot is lovely value for the safety. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick122 Rnd4 DJ McKinney
A premium they did not need to pay, DJ McKinney a notch or two before his time. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick138 Rnd5 Kam Robinson
By-the-book stuff, Kam Robinson at Round 5, Pick 1 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Cayden Lee
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cayden Lee in slot 139, miles early. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick159 Rnd5 Mateen Ibirogba
Nothing to complain about; Mateen Ibirogba went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick186 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
Earnest Greene III in slot 186 is fair value, right on his grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick245 Rnd7 Sullivan Absher
Sullivan Absher at the 245th pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick254 Rnd7 Anthony Evans III
Anthony Evans III at pick No. 254 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
