Draft Grade — Dolphins
Overall C+
ValueD NeedA- TradesB- FutureB-
The Dolphins left with their quarterback, and a C+ to match.

Start where it matters. The Dolphins took Darian Mensah to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. The good and the questionable cancel out to a C+.

They will need Mensah to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.

Pick Analysis
Pick5 Rnd1 Darian Mensah
In slot 5 they get the face of the franchise, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick36 Rnd2 Jadan Baugh
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jadan Baugh. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick67 Rnd3 Princewill Umanmielen
Princewill Umanmielen in the 67th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jaylen McClain
Jaylen McClain in pick 104 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick138 Rnd5 Luke Reynolds
Luke Reynolds at the 138th pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick153 Rnd5 Cayden Lee
This one needs a full-page explanation: Cayden Lee in No. 153, miles early. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick186 Rnd6 Earnest Greene III
They paid sticker price for Earnest Greene III in Round 6, Pick 5, and that is fine. It fills a real need, too.
Pick244 Rnd7 Austin Romaine
A reach for Austin Romaine in pick No. 244; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick254 Rnd7 Sullivan Absher
Sullivan Absher at pick 254 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
