Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D
ValueC NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
The phones sank the Cowboys this weekend: D.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Trey Moore at pick No. 172 is 121 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.

The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. For all the activity, cornerback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Getting Sanders where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The Cowboys paired the rookies with proven help, Zach Frazier leading the way.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Wyatt Milum
In the 12th overall pick they get a long-term starter on the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick21 Rnd1 Emeka Egbuka
In the 21st pick they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44 Rnd2 Jaxson Dart
A reach on Jaxson Dart in Round 2, Pick 12; the board had better options right there. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick57 Rnd2 Tre Harris
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Tre Harris in pick 57. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick66 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
A real head-scratcher, Donovan Jackson in slot 66 is miles ahead of his ranking. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick74 Rnd3 Deone Walker
A clean, defensible pick in No. 74 with a little surplus value in Deone Walker. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick76 Rnd3 Omarr Norman-Lott
No edge and no loss on Omarr Norman-Lott in the 76th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick83 Rnd3 Kevin Winston Jr.
Value said wait; Kevin Winston Jr. in slot 83 says they were not listening. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick95 Rnd3 Quinshon Judkins
You do not let a running back like Quinshon Judkins reach pick 95 and blink. They did not. It fills a real need, too.
Pick113 Rnd4 Sai'vion Jones
Sai'vion Jones at No. 113 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick122 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Smael Mondon Jr. slipping to the Round 4 slot is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick150 Rnd5 Earnest Greene III
A reach for Earnest Greene III in Round 5, Pick 11; a little patience would have been rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick170 Rnd5 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They went early on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in pick No. 170, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick172 Rnd5 Trey Moore
Trey Moore at the 172nd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jaishawn Barham
Jaishawn Barham at pick No. 174 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick190 Rnd6 Raheim Sanders
They barely believed it either: Raheim Sanders still on the board at Round 6, Pick 12. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick211 Rnd6 JJ Pegues
Taking JJ Pegues in the 211th pick is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick249 Rnd7 Trevor Etienne
They will replay Trevor Etienne at pick 249 for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
