FutureB-
The Lions did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-. For all the boxes ticked, the Lions skipped the loudest one: safety is exactly as bare as it was. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
If Harris Jr. pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The roster is better shaped than it was, with cornerback chief among the fixes.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
Good work on the whole, with safety the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
In No. 30 they get a sticky cover corner at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick62
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
No edge and no loss on Ruke Orhorhoro in slot 62; it is a wash and a sensible one. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick73
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
The board had cheaper options than Roman Wilson at pick No. 73, and it noticed. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
Zak Zinter at Round 3, Pick 30 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jaylan Ford
A reach for Jaylan Ford in the Round 5 slot; a little patience would have been rewarded. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick208
Rnd6
Myles Jones
Myles Jones at pick 208 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick251
Rnd7
Donell Harris Jr.
They jumped the gun on Donell Harris Jr., taking him earlier than his grade liked. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
