Draft Grade — Broncos
Overall D
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureC-
Quarterback settled, Maye in the fold, and a D for the Broncos.

The trade table was where it all came apart. The Broncos shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D reflects that.

Whatever Drake Maye becomes, the front office has tied its fortunes to the answer. Every board in the league had Jackson lower, and that gap is the story.

They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

They banked enough surplus on Gore Jr. to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, they will be counting on several picks to beat their grades.

Pick Analysis
Pick8 Rnd1 Drake Maye
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Pick68 Rnd3 McKinnley Jackson
A big swing on McKinnley Jackson at the 68th overall pick, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick91 Rnd3 Mike Sainristil
Mike Sainristil at pick 91 is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick113 Rnd4 Beau Brade
A tidy little value on Beau Brade in No. 113, a step better than break-even. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick145 Rnd5 Theo Johnson
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Theo Johnson. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick184 Rnd6 Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in the 184th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick228 Rnd7 Zakhari Franklin
No drama and no debate, Zakhari Franklin went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick233 Rnd7 Jeremy Flax
No edge and no loss on Jeremy Flax in slot 233; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
