FutureB
Quarterback settled, Nix in the fold, and a B for the Vikings. The Vikings spent the pick that matters most on Bo Nix, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape.
The Nix reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. Leaving tight end unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Green value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. The roster is better shaped than it was, with quarterback chief among the fixes.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Bo Nix
In No. 11 they get a franchise quarterback, reach and all. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick57
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
A straight-up fair deal on T'Vondre Sweat at pick 57, value and slot in agreement. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick91
Rnd3
Roman Wilson
A quiet steal in the Round 3 slot: Roman Wilson for less than the market said. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick109
Rnd4
Mason McCormick
Nice patience on Mason McCormick, who had no business lasting to Round 4, Pick 9. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick130
Rnd4
MarShawn Lloyd
No drama and no debate, MarShawn Lloyd went about where he belonged in the 130th overall pick. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick145
Rnd5
Cam Hart
Cam Hart at pick No. 145 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick157
Rnd5
Justin Rogers
Justin Rogers at slot 157 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick166
Rnd5
Renardo Green
They read the board right and Renardo Green was the payoff at the 166th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick179
Rnd6
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
Zion Tupuola-Fetui at the Round 6 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the edge rusher. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick216
Rnd6
Christian Jones
Christian Jones is a better player than slot 216 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227
Rnd7
Darius Muasau
Darius Muasau in pick 227 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
