Draft Grade — Vikings
Overall B
ValueB- NeedB TradesA+ FutureB-
Nobody dealt better than the Vikings this weekend: B.

The Vikings went off the board in a big way for Joe Milton III, 68 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. On value alone, Jones makes the weekend a net positive.

The Vikings indulged a want in Cooper while a need in safety, running back and other spots stayed open. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick17 Rnd1 Dallas Turner
In the 17th pick they get a bendy edge with upside. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick47 Rnd2 Junior Colson
No drama and no debate, Junior Colson went about where he belonged in pick 47. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick48 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
They bypassed pressing needs at safety, running back and other spots to take Edgerrin Cooper, a linebacker that was not the priority.
Pick96 Rnd3 Mekhi Wingo
A reach for Mekhi Wingo in Round 3, Pick 33; a little patience would have been rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick108 Rnd4 Zak Zinter
Nothing to complain about; Zak Zinter went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick109 Rnd4 Jalen McMillan
The board had Jalen McMillan higher than slot 109, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick130 Rnd4 Joe Milton III
A real head-scratcher, Joe Milton III in the 130th overall pick is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick156 Rnd5 Trevor Keegan
Trevor Keegan at Round 5, Pick 20 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick166 Rnd5 Jarrian Jones
They barely believed it either: Jarrian Jones still on the board at pick 166. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick179 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
They jumped the gun on Curtis Jacobs, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick190 Rnd6 Gabe Hall
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gabe Hall well ahead of where he belonged. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
