The board owed the Packers one, and it paid up: Jahdae Barron, the No. 13 name on the board, sitting there at pick No. 214 like a gift left on the doorstep. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. They will regret leaving running back for another day if the season turns on it. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

In the end it comes back to Josh Simmons, and a haul good enough to build on right away.
