The Steelers did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Billy Bowman Jr. fell into the Round 7 slot. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

They will need Sheppard to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.

Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
