Draft Grade — Seahawks

FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Seahawks to a D-. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Seahawks reached some 46 spots for Michael Pratt, and value like that does not grow back. It grades a D-, and the process earned it.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, running back very much included.
Pick Analysis
Pick16
Rnd1
Taliese Fuaga
In the 16th pick they get a blindside protector. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56
Rnd2
Michael Pratt
Michael Pratt at the 56th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
Pick59
Rnd2
Brenden Rice
They went early on Brenden Rice in slot 59, and the value did not follow. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick75
Rnd3
Zak Zinter
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Zak Zinter well ahead of where he belonged. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick78
Rnd3
Christian Mahogany
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Christian Mahogany. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick110
Rnd4
Jaheim Bell
They left a pile of value on the table to take Jaheim Bell this early at the Round 4 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick118
Rnd4
Justin Eboigbe
No edge and no loss on Justin Eboigbe in Round 4, Pick 18; it is a wash and a sensible one. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick154
Rnd5
Zion Tupuola-Fetui
They paid a round early for Zion Tupuola-Fetui in No. 154, more than the board wanted. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick194
Rnd6
Braiden McGregor
Braiden McGregor in pick No. 194 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick236
Rnd7
Chad Lindberg
A wild overpay on Chad Lindberg in slot 236, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick239
Rnd7
Steele Chambers
Steele Chambers is a better player than the Round 7 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick248
Rnd7
Zion Logue
A straight-up fair deal on Zion Logue at the 248th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
