The 49ers went off the board in a big way for Earnest Greene III, 48 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Spending an early pick on cornerback with quarterback open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. They banked enough surplus on Sturdivant to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.
