Draft Grade — Patriots
Overall A-
ValueB+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureB
The Patriots finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a A-.

Start where it matters. The Patriots took Jayden Daniels to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Melton.

A whole weekend of picks and edge rusher is somehow still a want.

Bottom line, with Jayden Daniels leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick Analysis
Pick13 Rnd1 Jayden Daniels
Jayden Daniels at the 13th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick34 Rnd2 JC Latham
JC Latham is a better player than Round 2, Pick 2 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick35 Rnd2 Kamren Kinchens
Nice patience on Kamren Kinchens, who had no business lasting to pick No. 35. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick68 Rnd3 Devontez Walker
Somehow Devontez Walker was still sitting there in slot 68, and they pounced on premier wide receiver value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick103 Rnd4 Bucky Irving
Bucky Irving slid further than he should have, and pick 103 is lovely value for the running back. It fills a real need, too.
Pick139 Rnd5 Max Melton
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 139 is the definition of value, full stop. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick140 Rnd5 Dallin Holker
A market-rate tight end, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Dallin Holker. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick182 Rnd6 Jaylen Wright
Taking Jaylen Wright in the 182nd pick is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick224 Rnd7 Myles Jones
Myles Jones at the Round 7 slot is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
