Draft Grade — Giants
Overall C+
ValueB NeedB TradesF FutureA+
Grand theft in the 153rd overall pick: the Giants steal Winston Jr. and grade out a C+.

Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Kevin Winston Jr. got past him. The Giants do not have to explain a thing at the Round 5 slot. The final tally is a middling C+.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. With interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on linebacker is the choice that costs them. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.

Every board in the league had Howard lower, and that gap is the story.

In the end, one you will need a couple of seasons to truly judge.

Pick Analysis
Pick19 Rnd1 Tre Harris
In Round 1, Pick 19 they get a difference-maker at receiver. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick34 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren at No. 34 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick55 Rnd2 Omarion Hampton
Omarion Hampton in the 55th overall pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The roster fit checks out.
Pick65 Rnd3 Deontae Lawson
The board had cheaper options than Deontae Lawson at slot 65, and it noticed. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick104 Rnd4 Will Howard
A big swing on Will Howard at pick 104, well ahead of any board in the building. It fills a real need, too.
Pick134 Rnd4 Danny Stutsman
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the 134th pick on Danny Stutsman with interior defensive lineman, edge rusher and other spots unsolved.
Pick153 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in pick No. 153, plain and simple. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick219 Rnd7 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson slid further than he should have, and the Round 7 slot is lovely value for the offensive lineman. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick245 Rnd7 Jordan Hancock
Steal is underselling it; Jordan Hancock at the Round 7 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick256 Rnd7 Garrett Dellinger
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Garrett Dellinger. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
